First, the diameter. This snorkel runs a full 5 inch bore throughout. Conversion engines, particularly the 6BT Cummins and LS variants that commonly find their way into GU Patrol builds, breathe at higher volumes than the original GU engines they replace. A 4 inch intake path can restrict airflow on these engines in a way that affects how they perform under load. The 5 inch diameter is sized to accommodate the airflow demands of a larger, higher-capacity conversion engine.
Second, the profile. The low cut design sits lower on the guard than a standard height snorkel, which changes how the snorkel sits visually and how it routes from the guard up to the intake head. For conversion builds where bonnet line clearance, roof rack configurations, or interior dimensions make a lower snorkel profile preferable, the low cut option is the practical choice rather than the aesthetic one.
Third, the entry position. The mid entry configuration describes where the snorkel connects to the airbox relative to the engine bay layout. On a conversion build, the standard long or short entry positions may not route cleanly into the airbox location, and the mid entry option is designed to provide a cleaner alignment for these non-standard configurations.
316 Grade Stainless Steel Construction
The 5 inch low cut mid entry snorkel is fabricated from 316 grade stainless steel. As noted on this product and our other 5 inch conversion snorkels, 316 grade offers a higher level of corrosion resistance than standard 304 grade due to its molybdenum content, which makes it more resistant to moisture, salt exposure, and the range of environmental conditions a GU Patrol working in Australian conditions will encounter.

Passenger Side Fitment and Conversion Compatibility
This snorkel is not a direct bolt-on for a standard factory GU Patrol engine setup. It is built for passenger side conversion configurations on Series 1-3 GU Patrols, with engine conversions including LS, 6BT Cummins, 1HD-FTE, and other custom builds listed as the recommended applications.
The snorkel is compatible with the Radius Fabrications airbox, the standard GU airbox, and other aftermarket airboxes. If you're running a non-standard airbox configuration, include the details in your order notes and we can confirm compatibility before production begins. As with our other 5 inch snorkels, the unit is not compatible with Safari snorkel templates, as the mounting layout and inlet dimensions differ from the Safari system.
Piping between the snorkel and the airbox is not included with the snorkel itself. It is supplied with the matching Radius 5 inch airbox kit, so if you're purchasing the full intake system rather than the snorkel alone, the connection components come with the airbox.
Finish Options
The snorkel is available in four finish options: polished stainless, powder coated black, seamless polished, and seamless powder coated. The polished and powder coated standard options show a small visible TIG weld join at each bend, which is normal for fabricated stainless snorkels of this type. The seamless options remove this join from the external appearance for builds where a fully smooth exterior finish is required.

Every kit includes the 5 inch mid entry passenger side snorkel, a cutting template, edge protector trim, a full mounting hardware kit including bolts, nuts, washers, and piping, and an installation instruction sheet. The GU Patrol Series 1-3, covering the Y61 models built prior to the 2005 Series 4 update, has a distinct guard and body line geometry compared to the later generation.
